This week, Active Community wants to bring your attention to the importance of building your local brand. A crucial element of this is deciding what you want your message to be. Because there are so many ways to communicate, it’s necessary to develop a strategy for how you’re going to attack this.

In order to successfully build your brand, there are a few things you need to consider. First of all, you need to create an online presence. In today’s competitive market, what you say online is just as important – if not more – than what you say offline. In order to better position ourselves on the web, we need to take a closer look at our offline networks. This is a great resource to tap into, but is often times overlooked. Happy Friday everyone! As some of you know, for the past few weeks we’ve been posting on our blog a new video series, Active Community. Centered around technology and the real estate industry, it’s our hope that these presentations will serve as a resource for generating quality traffic to your sites.

This being said, today we’d like to introduce you to another great site we follow regularly, SEOmoz.com. Although the following video is not a part of the Active Community presentations, the message is relevant to what we’ve been discussing these past weeks.

In the video, Rand discusses how to establish a sustainable SEO strategy. With changes being made to search engines constantly, it’s important to set a solid foundation because, while the implementation of your strategy may change, the overall concept behind it is still there. By focusing on three areas- technical, content and marketing – you’re able to build on to your existing SEO plan as technology evolves. To hear Rand discuss this in further detail, watch the following video from a previous SEOmoz Whiteboard Session.
