In today’s world, mobile technology plays an integral part in our everyday lives. We check our email while on-the-go, download apps for entertainment and stay connected with our customers at all hours of the day. For most of us it’s hard to imagine our business life without it. In fact, I’m so attached to my cell phone that it feels like I’ve lost a limb when it’s not within reach, and I suffer separation anxiety unless I check my work email (and Facebook) repeatedly throughout the day and night and on weekends. ( I know I’m not the only one suffering from this condition, either!)
With mobile technology so readily available, it has quickly become an important tool in reaching our customers. Not only does it allow us to communicate with customers at anytime and at their convenience, but more and more people are accessing websites through mobile devices as well. There are currently more than 53 million smartphone users in the United States, so we need to make sure we remain on the cutting edge of innovation and adapt to meet the need’s of today’s consumer.
The importance of mobile for businesses is undeniable, but I saw an interesting infographic today that really puts the mobile trend in perspective. The following infographic is provided by Intuit and design shop Column Five and highlights several ways mobile is influencing the way we conduct business.
