Last week The Active Enterprise Network discussed emerging technologies and prominent trends in the Real Estate Industry at The Active Enterprise Network Annual Conference. Held September 21-24 in downtown Denver, the conference focused on being an independent brokerage in today’s market and the importance of adopting innovation in order to stay ahead of the curve. The event also reiterated the importance of meeting the demands of our customers and what that means for the success of our brand.

Over the next several weeks, we will be taking an in-depth look at sessions covered at the conference and major takeaways from this year’s event. For Network members who were unable to attend this year, we will be releasing videos from the conference on The Active Enterprise Network portal as well.

With representatives from each member of The Network in attendance, the conference kicked off with renowned author and speaker, Steven Johnson, discussing trends that are revolutionizing the way we share information at the local level. With his latest book scheduled to be released next week, Steven took a closer look at the power of networks and new platforms and why it’s essential to embrace innovation.

In addition, several Network members spoke about adopting new technologies while showcasing how we can utilize The Active Enterprise Platform to gain a competitive advantage. Topics ranged from site enhancements that led The Danberry Company to a significant surge in traffic over the last year to using blogs, social networking sites and video to manage our brands. Our newest member to The Enterprise Network, The Hasson Company, discussed how they’re positioning agents as local experts in the community through their Ask the Expert Program. Because The Network offers market exclusivity, members were able to collaborate on best practices and openly share how technology is being implemented in their particular markets.

Guest speaker, Rob Ousbey, from Distilled, LLC, led The Network in a session on Search Engine Optimization and taking control of our position online. Rob shared his thoughts on creating a successful SEO strategy for 2011 while exploring major trends for the year, duplicate content and the integration of social media and its impact on SEO.

Also discussed in length were 2010 technology trends relevant to real estate, building blocks Active Website is developing to enhance our sites in terms of mobile, search and personalization, the influence of iPads and mobile devices on our day-to-day work flow, the truth behind syndication and the evolution of Active’s LifeCycle Platform.

The conference ended Friday with the vendor learning workshop where members met with vendors from The Active Partner Program. Throughout 2010, The Enterprise Network has worked closely with a variety of third party vendors to provide valuable products and services to members at rates unavailable to brokerages outside The Network. The workshop gave members the chance to interact on a one-on-one basis with several companies we’ve partnered with this year.
