Well there is a tool for that too! And it requires another profile….but don’t worry, this one you wont have to update daily, weekly or even monthly, but you will want to keep an eye on it.

StepRep ”is a free tool to help you monitor what people are saying about you online, manage your reputation by promoting positive stories, and build your reputation by connecting to your customers and their friends.”

While your profile on StepRep is public and is ranked in their system, based on people that “trust” you, this is not the selling point of the program. Instead their most exciting feature is the collection ability that is based on your chosen search options. StepRep has 3 automatic searches that it conducts based on your profile information and then allows you to set up 5 of your own.

Automatic Search Example:

2. Your Name + City
3. Your Company + City

Chosen Search Examples:

1. Your Name + City + Realtor
2. Your Name + Neighborhood + Realtor
3. Your Name + Real Estate
4. Your Name + City + Foreclosure Expert

What does the search function do?It collects anything on the web it can pull up that includes your name and organizes the references online into four categories, Positive, Negative, Neutral and Not Relevant. It will automatically assign to categories, but you can manage these and assign them to more appropriate categories that you see fit. Also, say you have a blog, and a Facebook profile, and a Linked In profile, you can add these to your “content” area so that they won’t come up in the searches. You wouldn’t want to find 50 Positive listings about you, and come to find out 30 of them are your own postings from your blog.

What about managing my reputation?The other great feature of StepRep is that it allows you to publish the positive finds to your other sites. This tool allows you to publish to your Facebook Page, Twitter Page and Blog or all three! Perhaps a client wrote a great review about you that you didn’t know about. StepRep will find it, and now you can forward it to your other accounts. Similarly, any negative comments are sniffed out by StepRep and presented to you, which you wont necessarily publish, but remains solid feedback.
